NW Sinfonietta is thrilled to bring guest conductor Mei-Ann Chen back in this program that explores the immigration story of of Erich Korngold, a child prodigy hailed in his native Austria as the ‘next Mendelssohn’ who was forced to flee to America due to the rise of the Nazi regime. Korngold’s Much Ado About Nothing brings the humor, intrigue and beauty of Shakespeare’s drama to this lush score. Nokuthula Ngwenyama’s noble ‘Bishop’s Processional’ and Viet Cuong’s Baroque-meets-marching-band ‘Extra(ordinarily) Fancy’ showcase NW Sinfonietta soloists.
